The Grand Insect Hotel

It seems like my mum is on a mission to invite every single insect in town into her garden. Wild lawns, bee hives and an insect hotel. On the insect hotel she has been working all winter. Especially the drill hole covered logs took a toll on her and the drill: the drill would run really hot after only a few holes. So my mum drilled two or threes holes whenever she went to pick up something from the basement. Still, over the colds months, quite a hotel developed.

I have no idea, which rooms are tailored for which insects, but the first rooms are surely rented out already. There are beech leaves and pine cones, logs with drill holes and wood wool, reed and – my favourite – escargot shells. The escargots are all over our garden and there are allways some empty shells lying around. For some reason they love to climb up the side of the house and leave trails of snail poop behind.
